Shipping the Chatisto WordPress Plugin

I’ve been asked for a WordPress button more times than I can count. We finally have it. The new Chatisto Widget plugin drops the hosted widget on any WordPress site with one upload and a public key.

What’s inside

  • We enqueue the Chatisto SDK (https://sdk.chatisto.com/chatisto-sdk.js) for you and keep it updated.
  • Lazy loading is the default so you don’t have to pick between speed and support.
  • The settings page is one field for the public key and a toggle for auto-open. That’s it.
  • If you forget the key, WordPress nags you until you fix it. Multisite works one site at a time.

That’s the whole job: install, paste, done.

Setup checklist

  1. Download the ZIP from your Chatisto dashboard or from GitHub.
  2. In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, pick the ZIP, and install.
  3. Activate the plugin, open Chatisto → Widget, and drop in your public key.
  4. Refresh the site. The widget shows up. If it doesn’t, the key is wrong.

Where we’re headed

Next up: Gutenberg blocks, shortcodes for targeted embeds, and cleaner analytics around which posts drive chats. If you have a sharp use case, email support@chatisto.com or DM me. This plugin will keep getting better as we hear from you.

Ship it, share what breaks, and we’ll keep tightening the screws.
