Getting started

Quick start

Go live with Chatisto in about 15 minutes: create a workspace, train the AI agent on your website, install the widget and decide when humans take over.

Chatisto puts an AI agent and live chat on your website and email. The AI answers from your own content. When it can't help, or the visitor asks for a person, it hands the conversation to your team.

Here's the shortest path to a working setup.

Prefer to let an AI do it? Connect the Chatisto MCP server to Claude, Claude Code or ChatGPT and say "Add Chatisto to my website". It creates the workspace, starts training the AI and installs the widget for you.

1. Create a workspace

Create an account and enter your website address. A workspace is one website or brand: it has its own widget, AI agent, inbox and settings. You can add more workspaces later and switch between them.

2. Train the AI agent

Go to Settings → AI Chatbot and add your content:

  • Website URL: Chatisto reads your pages. Start with your homepage, help center or FAQ.
  • Files & Documents: PDFs, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Markdown, CSV and more.
  • Paste Text: anything that isn't on your website, like return policies or opening hours.

Training takes a few minutes. Then ask the AI a few real customer questions to check its answers. See Train on your content.

3. Install the widget

Copy the snippet from Settings → General → Integration Snippet and paste it before </body> on your site. There are ready-made guides for WordPress, Shopify, Next.js, React, Nuxt and Framer.

Then match it to your brand in Settings → Client Settings. See Customize the widget.

4. Decide when humans take over

Go to Settings → Handoff & availability:

  • Set your business hours. Outside them, visitors leave their email instead of waiting.
  • Choose routing: notify everyone, or assign chats automatically.
  • Keep AI can hand off to a human on, so the AI escalates when it's stuck.

See Handoff & availability.

5. Invite your team

Add teammates in Settings → Team. Each operator sets their availability to Online or Away in the app. Only online operators receive chats. See Team & roles.

6. Answer and improve

  • Handle conversations in the Inbox. See Inbox & conversations.
  • Check Quality weekly. It shows which questions the AI couldn't answer, so you know what content to add. See Answer quality.

What's next

  • Scenarios: greet visitors with buttons, collect emails and route questions before the AI steps in.
  • Agent skills: teach the AI how your team handles refunds, order changes and other requests.
  • Email: answer support email in the same inbox.
