Contacts
How Chatisto builds contact profiles from chats: default and custom properties, where data comes from, duplicates and conversation history.
Every visitor who chats, and every email sender, becomes a contact. Open Contacts in the main menu to browse them.
Properties
Each workspace starts with these properties:
| Property | How it's filled |
|---|---|
| Visitor, AI, scenario question, offline form, your website, or your team. Validated. | |
| Name, Phone, Company, Role, Industry | Visitor, scenario question, your website, or your team. Phone is validated. |
| Location | Visitor's country, detected automatically. |
| Browser, Device | Detected automatically. |
You can add custom properties of type text, number, date, yes/no or select. For example, "Plan" or "Order number".
Where the data comes from
- The visitor answers a scenario question or fills the "Require Email and Name" form. A question can save its answer to any property, and creates a custom property if it doesn't exist yet (see Scenarios).
- The AI saves an email the visitor shares in the chat.
- The offline form saves the email and name of visitors who left a message.
- Your website sends data for logged-in users with the JavaScript API.
- Your team edits properties on the contact profile.
With HubSpot connected, a contact is created in HubSpot as soon as Chatisto learns their email.
Duplicates
The same person can show up as several contacts, for example on two devices. Group the list by a property such as email to merge them in the view. The contact profile lists related contacts that share the same email.
